Apps should run at no less than 85% render scaling for the majority of the experience. Individual, non-consecutive sequences such as boss battles may drop below 85% render scaling, but should return to above 85% after such sequences.

To measure current render scale, use the
Render Scale Percent metric in
OVR Metrics Tool.
Apps using Dynamic Resolution (
Unity,
Unreal) which set minimum scaling factor below 85% are responsible for ensuring that their performance is sufficient to preserve 85% render scale or higher for the majority of the experience.
- Launch OVR Metrics Tool, go to Graphs, and then add Render Scale Percent to the visible graphs.
- Use the app for the length of the content or 45 minutes, whichever is shorter.
- While using the app, observe the graph labeled Render Scale or RS.
The application does not experience extended periods of render scaling under 85% other than for individual, non-sequential sequences such as boss battles.
