For more video guidance on using screenshots, see Effective Screenshots from the Boosting Conversion on the Meta Horizon Store course on Data Protocol.

Best practices

  • Screenshots must reflect actual in-app content.
  • Screenshots must be unique - no duplicates allowed.
  • Screenshots must fill the entirety of the usable space - avoid letterboxing or pillarboxing. Letterboxing or pillarboxing are when there are empty bars at the top and bottom or left and right of your screen.
  • Screenshots must not be blank or generic.
  • Screenshots must not contain extra banners, badges, marketing text, etc.
  • Screenshots must not show editor mode or editor view.

Bad examples

Do not submit screenshots like these:
  • A bad example screenshot with pillarboxing.
Example image: This image for fictional game Action Gary has pillarboxing, which is vertical black bars to the left and right of the image.
  • A bad example screenshot with letterboxing.

  • A bad example screenshot with extra banners.

Steps to test

  1. View screenshot.
  2. Check if the screenshot is unique, reflects the in-app experience, and fills the entire space.
  3. Check for extraneous text.

Expected result

Image is an unembellished screenshot of the app experience that is unique and fills the entire space.
