Additional details

Clean, simple and easy-to-read assets are important.
Your cover art must include some branding element, e.g. the app title, identifiable emblem, or main character. If you include your app’s title in your cover art, it must be spelled exactly as it is spelled in the title.
You may include additional text that provides informative metadata, but this must be smaller than the app title. Examples of allowed text are “captured on Quest”, “Early Access”, “Coming Soon”, or copyright notices.
Other types of extraneous text are not allowed in cover art. Examples of disallowed extraneous text are generic superlatives (“Best game ever!”), vague updates (“New stuff!”), unattributed quotes and pricing* information.
For best practices, review the following guidance:

Examples

Good examples

The following examples meet our Asset.2 VRC requirements:
  • The cover art image prominently features the correct app title without extraneous text.
Example image: The cover art image for Supernatural: Unreal Fitness prominently features the correct app title without extraneous text.
  • Cover art includes non-title text, but the text is informative for users.
Example image: The cover art for Gorilla Tag includes the name of a new update as informative text for users, with imagry that corresponds with the update

Bad examples

The following examples do not meet asset.2 VRC requirements:
  • Text is included in cover art, but the app title in cover art does not match the app’s actual title such that users would be confused.
Example image: The cover art image for fictional game Action Gary prominently features extraneous text like "NEW!" and "A+" which is larger than the app title.
  • App title is not the most prominent text in cover art.
Example image: The cover art image for fictional game Action Gary is not the most prominent text in cover art.
  • Cover art includes vague and generic extraneous text.

Steps to test

  1. View the cover art images.
  2. If the app title is included, assess if it is correctly spelled.
  3. Assess if extraneous text is present.
  4. If yes, assess if the text is informative metadata, and if it is smaller than the app title.

Expected result

Cover art consists of clear branding on a well-designed background without extraneous text or banners.
*Pricing information in cover art for already published apps could remain in place until April 1, 2025. If your app still has this pricing information in the cover art, the text will need to be removed when next updating your metadata.
