Engagement overview

Updated: Feb 18, 2026
Engaging with your user base on Meta Quest is an important part of growing your community. Engagement is not just about creating new content. Your users want to hear from you and find a community for their favorite games.
We have several self-serve tools to help you communicate directly with your users and help convert social activity into engagement for your app. Note that some levers are gated by the user’s age, and will not be visible to them. For more information, see Child user restrictions for the Platform SDK (Unity, Unreal, Native).

Time based engagement levers

These provide timely updates and drive urgency with time-based engagement levers. Use these tools to communicate directly with your users on Meta Quest.
  • Posts: Keep your users informed with app updates or important announcements. See Developer Posts for how to create and manage posts, or visit the engine-specific docs: (Unity, Unreal, Native).
  • Events: Drive concurrency in your app by creating compelling events that drive user participation (Unity, Unreal, Native).
  • Notifications: Prompt users to perform specific actions (like writing an app review) through notifications (Unity, Unreal, Native).

Evergreen engagement levers

Not all engagement needs to come from limited-time events or new content. You can use these evergreen tools to convert social activity into engagement for your app.
  • Destinations: Allow users to quickly jump into experiences with friends by creating deeplinks that can be accessed from headset or on the Meta Quest app (Unity, Unreal, Native).
  • Leaderboards: Encourage friendly competition among your users with ranked leaderboards for your app (Unity, Unreal, Native).
  • Achievements: Challenge your users to earn trophies, badges, or other awards for completing milestones in your app (Unity, Unreal, Native).

Case studies

We have built a set of case studies to help you understand how other developers have used these engagement tools.
